The Dutch Caribbean remains a top-tier destination for travelers, with Aruba, Bonaire, and Curaçao experiencing exceptionally high demand. TUI fly has reported 100% occupancy rates on flights to these islands during the spring months, prompting the airline to increase its flight frequency for the upcoming winter season.
Starting this winter, TUI will add two additional weekly flights to Curaçao, bringing the total number of weekly connections to the ABC islands to 16.
Strengthening Connectivity
The sustained popularity of the ABC islands is driving a strategic expansion of direct flight options. According to Luc Lentjes, Commercial Director at TUI Netherlands and Belgium, the airline currently operates 14 weekly flights, with a primary focus on maximizing direct connectivity.
-
Bonaire: TUI is operating 5 flights per week this summer, offering direct outbound and inbound options—a configuration highly prioritized by travelers.
-
Aruba: The airline maintains 2 direct flights per week, providing similar non-stop convenience for passengers.
“Travelers are increasingly opting for the combination of guaranteed sunshine, renowned hospitality, and a diverse range of high-quality offerings,” says Lentjes. “Demand remains robust not only during school holidays but consistently throughout the off-peak periods as well, attracting both couples and families.”
To enhance the passenger experience, TUI continues to feature its ‘Deluxe’ class and ‘Comfort’ seating options with extra legroom across its fleet serving these routes.
Strategic Investment in Accommodation
In response to the growing appetite for premium travel experiences, TUI is set to expand its footprint on Curaçao. Later this year, the operator will open the TUI Blue Curaçao, a new 5-star all-inclusive resort. The move is designed to meet the rising demand for high-end, reliable accommodation that complements the islands’ stable, year-round climate.
Industry analysts note that this surge in popularity is part of a broader shift in travel patterns. Many European travelers are currently favoring Caribbean destinations over long-haul trips to the Far East, citing the reliability and accessibility of the Dutch Caribbean as key deciding factors.
