Mandarin Oriental has announced the appointment of Emmy Stoel as General Manager of Mandarin Oriental Conservatorium, Amsterdam. Stoel returns to the Dutch capital from InterContinental Athénée Palace Bucharest, where she served as General Manager.
With more than 30 years of international hospitality experience, Stoel is known for her people-focused leadership style, operational expertise and ability to create exceptional guest experiences while building strong connections with local communities.
A return to Amsterdam
Amsterdam has played an important role throughout Stoel’s career. She previously led both Sofitel Legend The Grand Amsterdam and Hotel Okura Amsterdam, where she focused on developing high-performing teams, driving business performance and strengthening the hotels’ connections with the city.
In 2023, Stoel was named European Hotel Manager of the Year by the European Hotel Managers Association. The award recognised her achievements as a hotelier, as well as her commitment to sustainability, diversity and inclusion, and talent development.
Stoel joins Mandarin Oriental Conservatorium following a significant milestone in the hotel’s history: the introduction of the Mandarin Oriental brand to the Netherlands under the leadership of Susanne Hatje.
Building on this foundation, Stoel will lead the hotel into its next phase, with a focus on further strengthening Mandarin Oriental Conservatorium’s position as one of Amsterdam’s leading luxury destinations for both international travellers and local residents.
Her priorities will include further developing the hotel’s culinary and wellness experiences, attracting and nurturing exceptional talent, and deepening its ties with Amsterdam’s cultural and creative communities.
