American Express announced that The Centurion® Lounge at Amsterdam Airport Schiphol (AMS) will open its doors today, on 17 September, marking the 33rd location within the Centurion Lounge Network. It is the first location on the European mainland to carry the Centurion Lounge name, marking another milestone in the continued expansion of the American Express Global Lounge Collection
Located between Pier E and Pier F, the approximately 557-square-metre lounge is inspired by Dutch art, landscapes, culture and design. It features floor-to-ceiling windows providing abundant natural light, a Blue Roast Coffee Bar, a bar offering a wide selection of beers and cocktails, and a buffet serving seasonal dishes. The lounge will be open daily from 6:00 am to 9:30 pm.
“Schiphol is an important international hub for our Card Members in the Netherlands and around the world. That made Schiphol a natural location for the arrival of The Centurion Lounge,” said Audrey Hendley, President, American Express Travel. “As the first global financial services provider with its own lounge at AMS, we look forward to welcoming Card Members to a premium environment inspired by the character of Amsterdam.”
Inspired by Dutch heritage, designed for today
The Centurion Lounge at AMS combines contemporary design with references to Dutch heritage. A rich palette of blue, green and earth tones reflects Amsterdam’s landscapes and famous canals, while the lines, proportions and repetition in the design draw inspiration from the city’s iconic canal houses.
Black quartzite, brass details and warm wood accents create a layered, contemporary interior. Floor-to-ceiling windows bring natural light into the space and highlight the contrasting colours and textures.
The lounge also features a collection of works by Dutch artists including Mieke Jonker, Reinder Schmidt, Geesien Postema and Thirza Schaap, offering contemporary interpretations of Dutch nature and identity.
“We are incredibly proud to bring this iconic experience to one of Europe’s most important international aviation hubs and to open a new chapter for our Card Members,” said Elisabeth Leblanc, Country Manager, American Express Benelux. “The arrival of The Centurion Lounge in Amsterdam supports our growth ambitions in the Benelux and reflects our continued investment in the Membership experience, while reinforcing our commitment to providing Card Members with valuable benefits and exceptional experiences wherever their journeys take them.”
Tim de Bie, Director Commercial Terminal at Amsterdam Airport Schiphol, said: “The opening of The Centurion Lounge is a welcome addition to Schiphol’s lounge offering. Passengers increasingly value choice in how they spend their time at the airport, whether they want to relax, work or recharge before their flight. This new lounge adds a distinctive premium hospitality concept and further strengthens the quality and diversity of the passenger experience at Schiphol.”
Seasonal cuisine and Amsterdam coffee culture
The culinary offering includes seasonal dishes inspired by Dutch and regional European flavours, refined interpretations of local ingredients and a menu developed for the modern traveller. The bar combines local inspiration with international influences.
Amsterdam’s coffee culture also plays a central role. The Blue Roast Coffee Bar celebrates the city’s coffee culture with coffee from local suppliers and a dedicated coffee programme led by baristas.
Guests can choose from a variety of seating options, including comfortable armchairs, café tables, standing tables, sofas, quiet workspaces and group seating. The lounge also offers dedicated restrooms, a separate phone room, ample power and USB outlets, and complimentary high-speed Wi-Fi.
Expanding access to airport lounges worldwide
The American Express Global Lounge Collection offers eligible Card Members access to more than 1,550 lounges worldwide, including 33 locations within the Centurion Lounge Network. The network is continuing to expand, with new locations planned at Newark Liberty International Airport (EWR) and Boston Logan International Airport (BOS), as well as a Sidecar by The Centurion Lounge at Charlotte Douglas International Airport (CLT).
Card Members can use the Lounge Finder in the American Express App or online to view the current list of lounges and applicable access conditions.
