Travelski is launching a new overnight train service connecting the Netherlands and Belgium directly with the French Alps for the 2026-27 winter season. The Travelski Night Express will allow passengers to travel overnight to the Tarentaise valley, potentially adding up to two extra days on the slopes compared with a conventional week-long ski holiday.
The first service will depart on 18 December 2026, with weekly departures scheduled through 27 March 2027.
The train will leave the Netherlands on Friday evening, calling at Amsterdam and Rotterdam before continuing to Antwerp and Brussels-South. It will then travel overnight to the French Alps, with stops at Moûtiers, Aime-la-Plagne and Bourg-Saint-Maurice. Transfers from the stations will connect passengers with the surrounding ski resorts.
The return service will operate on Saturday evening, allowing travellers to make full use of their final day in the mountains before travelling back overnight.
More time on the slopes
Travelski is positioning the Night Express as a way of maximising skiing time while avoiding a long daytime journey by car or coach.
Because both the outbound and return journeys take place overnight, passengers can potentially ski on both the first and last days of their holiday. A traditional six-day ski holiday could therefore offer up to eight days on the slopes, depending on the itinerary and resort.
Different accommodation options on board
Passengers will be able to choose between several travel options, ranging from conventional seats and standard sleeping accommodation to private compartments and first-class options.
The train will also feature a bar car serving food and drinks during the journey. Dedicated space will be available for skis and snowboards.
Train and ski package
Travelski will sell the Night Express both as an individual rail ticket and as part of an integrated ski holiday package.
A one-way train ticket starts at €127 per person, while packages combining rail travel, transfers, accommodation and a ski pass start at €720 per person. Ski equipment is included in the package price.
Travellers booking their accommodation, ski pass and equipment through Travelski can arrange transfers from the arrival station directly to their resort.
Electric alternative to driving
The service also provides an alternative to driving to the Alps. According to Travelski, the fully electric train is estimated to produce around one-fifth of the CO₂ emissions of a comparable 800-kilometre car journey with four passengers.
The Travelski Night Express will be operated by Pegasus Trains on behalf of Travelski, which is part of the Compagnie des Alpes group.
The new service adds another overnight rail option for the European ski market, as demand for alternatives to long-distance car journeys and daytime transfers to the Alps continues to grow.
