Handwritten Collection, the curated brand of characterful hotels from Accor, has announced the opening of Maek Hotel Antwerp Central – Handwritten Collection, located in the heart of the city’s famous Diamond District near Central Station, the zoo, shopping boulevard De Meir and the historic Grote Markt.
The new property offers 128 stylish rooms, a fitness centre, a bar and restaurant with seasonal menus, as well as a focus on local flavours such as Belgian craft beers and artisanal pastries. Each room comes with a sketchbook and pencils to encourage creativity, while the lobby features curated art books for moments of inspiration. Guests receive a handmade cookie from social bakery Helpende Handjes at check-out, supporting people with disabilities.
Since its launch in 2023, Handwritten Collection has brought together distinctive independent hotels worldwide, each with a strong sense of personality and a host who shares their passions with guests. In 2025 alone, the brand has opened properties in Debrecen (Hungary), Bucharest (Romania), Heraklion (Greece), Paris and Rotterdam. Antwerp is the third Handwritten Collection hotel in the Benelux, following Hotel Ter Zand and Le Marin Rotterdam City. Later this month, Hotel Maison Maastricht will also join the portfolio.
“Maek Hotel Antwerp Central captures the spirit of the Handwritten Collection: intimate, stylish and deeply personal,” said Jessica Thielmans, Cluster Sales Manager.
The hotel will be operated by Step Partners in collaboration with Accor and is part of the ALL – Accor Live Limitless loyalty programme.
