The Imperial New Delhi Named ‘Best Luxury Hotel in India’ by ICC

The Indian Chamber of Commerce (ICC) has officially named The Imperial New Delhi as the “Best Luxury Hotel in India.” The prestigious title was conferred during the 2nd ICC Aviation and Tourism Conference 2026, marking a significant milestone for one of the country’s most storied properties.

The award recognizes the hotel’s consistent ability to blend historic preservation with the high-level service standards required by modern international and business travelers.

A Legacy of Hospitality

Opening its doors in 1936, The Imperial was New Delhi’s first luxury hotel. Designed with a distinct mix of Victorian, Art Deco, and Lutyens’ architectural influences, it was originally envisioned as a regal residence reminiscent of the homes of Maharajas.

Beyond its aesthetics, the property serves as a “living gallery,” housing the world’s largest private collection of 5,500 artworks. Historically, its halls have hosted pivotal diplomatic meetings between figures such as Nehru, Gandhi, Jinnah, and Lord Mountbatten, cementing its status as a landmark of Indian heritage.

Modern Recognition

The ICC accolade follows a string of recent international successes for the hotel. Current distinctions include:

  • 2 Michelin Keys: Awarded for exceptional stays and service.

  • World’s 50 Best Discovery 2025: Inclusion in the elite global hospitality list.

  • Condé Nast Traveller Readers’ Choice 2025: Voted as one of the World’s Best Hotels and the top property in Delhi.

“To receive this honor is deeply personal,” said Louis Sailer, Senior Executive Vice President of The Imperial New Delhi. “As the only hotel in India to be recognized with this title, The Imperial stands humbled. This is an acknowledgement that resonates far beyond achievement, touching the very soul of our India story.”

Strategic Excellence

Set across an eight-acre estate in the heart of the capital, the hotel continues to maintain its relevance in a competitive market through its memberships in The Leading Hotels of the World, Virtuoso, and American Express Fine Hotels & Resorts.

For the corporate and luxury travel sector, the ICC award reaffirms The Imperial’s position as a primary sanctuary where colonial-era grandeur meets the sophisticated infrastructure expected by today’s global elite.
