Mövenpick to open beach resort in Petten

In 2028, Mövenpick Hotels & Resorts will open its first-ever resort in the Netherlands: the Mövenpick Resort & Spa Pettemer Duynen. Located in the charming seaside village of Petten, known for its wide sandy beaches and sweeping dunes, the property will be part of a large-scale area redevelopment.

The new resort will feature 240 elegant rooms, a spa and wellness centre, multiple swimming pools, meeting facilities for up to 500 guests, and several restaurants reflecting Mövenpick’s culinary heritage. Adjacent to the hotel, Landal GreenParks will develop 13 apartments and 150 detached villas on a 50,000 m² site, further positioning Petten as an attractive destination for both domestic and international travellers.

First Mövenpick Resort in the Country
Founded in Switzerland in 1948, Mövenpick has built a global reputation as a premium hotel brand focused on quality and memorable guest experiences. The brand operates more than 130 hotels worldwide. In the Netherlands, Accor – Mövenpick’s parent company – already manages 58 hotels across 14 brands, including Mövenpick properties in The Hague and Amsterdam.

Boost for Petten
“With Mövenpick Resort & Spa Pettemer Duynen, we are firmly putting Petten on the map,” said Erwin van der Graaf, Managing Director, Accor Netherlands. “It will be a contemporary beach resort that appeals to both international visitors and the local community.”

The project is a collaboration between Pettemer Duynen, Het Nieuwe Strand Petten, Landal GreenParks, Accor, and the municipality. “We share the same vision and are confident this resort will set a new standard in hospitality along the North Sea coast,” added Mike Schouten, co-owner of Pettemer Duynen.

Location and Accessibility
Petten is just a 45-minute drive from Amsterdam and 15 kilometres from Alkmaar. The region is not only a draw for tourists but is also home to the nearby Energy & Health Campus, an important research hub for sustainable energy and nuclear medicine that attracts international visitors.

Part of Mövenpick’s European Growth
The Petten resort is part of Mövenpick’s broader European expansion, with recent or upcoming openings in Brussels, Greece, Italy, and Montenegro. Guests will also have access to ALL – Accor Live Limitless, the group’s global loyalty programme offering exclusive benefits during and after their stay.
