Hilton announces the appointment of Jeroen Werdmölder as General Manager of Waldorf Astoria Amsterdam. With over twenty years of experience in the international luxury hotel industry, he returns to the iconic canal-side hotel, where he played a key role in its opening in 2014.
Jeroen joined the company last summer and succeeds Katharina Schlaipfer, who has been promoted to Vice President of Operations, Continental Europe at Hilton. In her new role, she will be responsible for operations in Central and Eastern Europe.
He began his career at Waldorf Astoria New York and has since worked at some of the world’s most prestigious hotels. He contributed to the reopening of The Plaza Hotel in New York, played a significant role in the opening of Waldorf Astoria Amsterdam, worked on the opening of Waldorf Astoria Beverly Hills, and recently held a management position at Mandarin Oriental New York. With his international experience, passion for hospitality, and strong personal connection to Waldorf Astoria Amsterdam, Werdmölder brings both strategic expertise and extensive brand experience.
“It feels special to return to Waldorf Astoria Amsterdam, a hotel that has always held a special place in my heart,” says Werdmölder. “Even when I worked on the opening, I knew this was a place I would remember. The grandeur of the canal houses, the elegance of the interior, and the tranquility of the courtyard garden make the hotel a place that feels like coming home. Together with our talented team, I look forward to continuing to surprise guests with personalized service and unforgettable experiences in one of the world’s most beautiful cities.”
Hilton also emphasizes the importance of his appointment. “We are delighted to welcome Jeroen back to Amsterdam,” says Erwin Verhoog, Vice President of Operations, Continental Europe at Hilton. “His deep knowledge of the Waldorf Astoria brand and international leadership experience make him the ideal person to take the hotel to the next level.”
Under his leadership, Waldorf Astoria Amsterdam aims to further strengthen its position as a leading luxury destination in the Netherlands and beyond.
