Air India opens new flagship Maharaja Lounge

Air India has officially inaugurated its new flagship Maharaja Lounge at Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport Terminal 3, marking a significant milestone in the airline’s ongoing brand transformation. Opened on February 16, 2026, by Tata Sons and Air India Chairman N. Chandrasekaran, the 16,000-square-foot facility is located at the international pier and can accommodate nearly 300 guests. The lounge is divided into an expansive Business Class section and an exclusive “Air India First” area, both designed to blend authentic Indian hospitality with contemporary luxury for First and Business Class passengers, Maharaja Club Platinum and Gold members, and eligible Star Alliance Gold travelers.

The lounge features several signature spaces tailored to different traveler needs, including the Aviator’s Bar, which pays tribute to the airline’s 1932 origins with design elements inspired by J.R.D. Tata’s historic flight from Karachi to Bombay. For those needing to remain productive, the Globetrotter’s Study provides a quiet workspace equipped with high-speed connectivity and charging points, while the Serenity Area offers enclosed recliners for relaxation. The dedicated First Class section further elevates the experience with the Crystal Bar, serving premium champagnes and cocktails, and private Sleep Suites designed for restorative rest before departure.
