Lufthansa has reached a significant milestone in its long-haul product rollout. As of today, the highly anticipated Allegris Business Class cabin on the Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner is officially open for bookings for travel starting April 15, 2026.
Following a rigorous certification process, 25 of the 28 seats in the new Business Class compartment have received the green light for commercial sale. While three seats in the second row currently remain under final review, the bulk of the “next-generation” cabin is now available to corporate travelers and premium holidaymakers departing from Lufthansa’s Frankfurt hub.
Expanding the Footprint
The Allegris concept, which debuted in the summer of 2024 on the Airbus A350-900 out of Munich, has already carried over one million passengers. Since October 2025, the product has been gradually introduced on the Frankfurt-based Boeing 787-9 fleet.
“Our guests love Allegris,” said Jens Ritter, CEO of Lufthansa Airlines. “The approval of the majority of seats in Business Class on the Boeing 787-9 is an important milestone for Lufthansa—and above all, great news for our customers.”
Tailored Choice: The Seat Within the Seat
A hallmark of the Allegris Business Class is the ability for passengers to customize their experience based on specific needs. While Classic Seats remain free of charge to reserve, passengers can opt for specialized seating for an additional fee:
-
The Business Class Suite: Featuring high walls and sliding doors for maximum privacy.
-
The Extra Space Seat: Offering additional lateral room and a larger workspace.
-
The Privacy Seat: Positioned directly by the window for a more secluded feel.
-
The Extra Long Bed: Boasting a 2.20-meter lying surface, catering to taller travelers.
Global Connectivity
With the start of the summer flight schedule, the Allegris-equipped Dreamliners will serve an impressive array of destinations from Frankfurt, including Austin, Rio de Janeiro, Bogotá, Cape Town, Shanghai, Hyderabad, and Hong Kong.
The expansion continues throughout the summer: New York (JFK) and Los Angeles will join the network in June, followed by Delhi in July.
Fleet Growth
Lufthansa’s commitment to the Dreamliner is substantial. Eight brand-new aircraft are already stationed in Frankfurt, with 21 more on order. By the end of 2027, the airline plans to operate a total of 29 Boeing 787-9s, solidifying the Allegris product as the backbone of its premium long-haul offering.
