Cathay resumes service to Adelaide this week, with three direct flights a week between Hong Kong and the South Australian capital. The first flight departed just before midnight on Tuesday, November 11, from its home base of Hong Kong International Airport.
With this renewed direct connection, Cathay Pacific is bringing the two cities closer together. This facilitates travel, trade, and cultural exchange between Asia and Australia. Passengers between Hong Kong and Adelaide will fly comfortably on Cathay Pacific’s modern Airbus A350-900 aircraft. This aircraft offers a premium experience in every cabin: from fully lie-flat beds in Business, spacious seats in Premium Economy, and award-winning comfort in Economy.
Lavinia Lau, Chief Customer and Commercial Officer at Cathay Pacific, said: “We are delighted to be returning to Adelaide, a city with which we share a long history, dating back to our first flight in 1992. Adelaide is a vibrant city on the South Australian coast, renowned for its culinary experiences, world-renowned wines, and beautiful scenery. We look forward to welcoming our passengers on board with the premium service they have come to expect, whether they are travelling to Adelaide, to our home base in Hong Kong, or onward to other destinations.”
Flight Schedule (local times)
Cathay Pacific currently flies to six destinations in Australia: Adelaide, Brisbane, Cairns, Melbourne, Perth, and Sydney. Along with flights to Auckland and Christchurch, New Zealand, the airline will operate nearly 100 round-trip flights per week to Oceania from Hong Kong this winter.
These flights also offer additional cargo hold capacity, providing more cargo options between Australia, Hong Kong, and beyond. This complements Cathay Cargo’s twice-weekly flights to and from Australia.
