JetBlue and United launch reciprocal loyalty benefits

JetBlue Airways and United Airlines have officially launched the first major benefit under their new Blue Sky collaboration, allowing loyalty members to earn and redeem points or miles across both airlines’ networks. The move marks a significant milestone in the partnership between the two U.S. carriers and aims to deliver a more seamless and rewarding travel experience for frequent flyers.

Earn and Redeem Across Two Networks

Effective immediately, JetBlue TrueBlue® and United MileagePlus® members can enjoy reciprocal earning and redemption privileges. TrueBlue members will now be able to earn and redeem points on flights across United’s extensive global network, including United Express®. Meanwhile, MileagePlus members can earn and redeem miles on most JetBlue-operated flights to the airline’s top leisure destinations.

When booking on JetBlue or United’s websites and mobile apps, customers will now see options from both airlines, enabling them to use their preferred loyalty currency to book flights with ease.

To earn rewards, travelers simply enter their loyalty number when booking through the partner airline’s platform. Award travel redemptions remain available directly through each airline’s respective website.

“With reciprocal earning and redemption now available, Blue Sky is officially taking flight,” JetBlue and United said in a joint statement. “We’re excited to give our loyalty members the ability to use the program of their choice when traveling across our complementary networks.”

What’s Next for Blue Sky

The launch of reciprocal loyalty benefits is just the beginning. The two airlines announced a series of additional features that will roll out through 2026, including:

  • Revenue Booking (Q1 2026): Travelers will be able to book itineraries on either airline using cash or loyalty points/miles.

  • Reciprocal Perks (Early 2026): Priority boarding, preferred and extra legroom seating, same-day flight changes, and standby access.

  • MileagePlus Travel Powered by Paisly (Early 2026): United’s travel booking platform will transition to JetBlue’s Paisly LLC, expanding access to hotels, rental cars, cruises, vacation packages, and travel insurance.

  • JetBlue’s Support for United’s JFK Expansion (2027): JetBlue will provide United with access to slots for up to seven daily roundtrips from the new Terminal 6.

Together, these developments aim to create a more integrated and rewarding travel ecosystem while expanding the reach of both airlines.
